1. What is a life coach?

A Life/Executive coach is someone who looks at your current life and career then guides you into a more desirable future. Coaching helps you create the present and the future you want. It focuses on clarifying the desired outcome, identification of limitations or barriers, moving past those limitations or barriers, setting goals, planning, and taking action. A coach shows up with the belief that the client already holds all the answers. Coaches simply help unlock the client's knowledge/ability.  It's not about making drastic changes, those are just a Band -Aid.  It's about making small but deliberate changes for lasting success.

2. Is a life coach a counselor or therapist?

No. Therapy deals mostly with an individual's past, including any trauma or disruption in life. Therapists guide clients on a certain path to "heal" them. Coaching deals with the individual's present and guides clients into a more desirable future. It is very forward-motion focused.

The coach-client relationship is on an equal playing field. The coach is there with you to help YOU clarify where you want to go, to help YOU identify limitations/barriers, then work with YOU to come up with the desired goals. Coaches turn the challenges into victories by opening up clients' awareness, then holding them accountable to reaching their desired goals.

3. How will a life coach help me?

A coach helps by giving you the support necessary and by holding you accountable to reach your desired goals. Coaches aren’t attached to the outcome and don’t have a personal agenda in your situation. We come without judgment.

4. How long will it take?

Coaching is not a Band-Aid approach. It’s about creating a lasting change. Clients are required to work with me a minimum of three to six months and could work with me up to a year, depending on their situation.

5. What can a life coach do for my company?

Companies work with executive coaches to develop leadership, achieve high employee retention, help successful leaders get better, increase productivity both individually and within an entire team, reduce stress (and, therefore, reduce leave or sick time), and create cohesion within the organization.

6. How many companies hire life coaches, and what do their executives say about it?

According to Choice Magazine:
  • 55% of corporations used external coaching as a learning methodology for developing their executives.
  • 92% of leaders indicate they would use a coach again in the future.

7. How do you work?

Most clients work with me over the phone, which enables me to work with people all over the world.
